Just a quick recommendation…

Not much for today, folks, other than a quick recommendation.

I don’t know if you look for other ways to be inspired or for other blogs to read that are an 11 out of 10, but I’d recommend you visit Carlos Whittaker at Ragamuffin Soul on a regular basis.

Good stuff, plain and simple.

Both Ends Burning

I love seeing people take their experiences and learn from them, take action based on them, and work for positive change.

…especially when it comes to adoption or the benefit of orphaned children here and in other countries.

Without taking too much of your time, I have two requests.

1. Head over to Both Ends Burning and quickly learn about the broken international adoption system (signing the petition won’t hurt, either)..

2. If you have the means to do so, join (and maybe watch Carlos Whittaker’s video explanation first – Part 1 and Part 2).

An Open Letter to Christian Creatives

This is a bit old but still relevant and worth reading. It specifically applies to creative types who also follow Jesus.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about creatives who exist in the church—people who create their church’s videos, design and maintain their church’s websites, lighting and stage directors and artists, and musicians. There are so many things I want to say to you, but haven’t.

Until now.

Daily Inspiration: Creating Perfect Solitude for Creative Focus (from the99percent.com)

Today’s encouragement comes from the99percent.com (yes, again).

Creating Perfect Solitude for Creative Focus

While this is all good stuff I’m going to add one item to it. If you are a Christian this is vital. If you are not a Christian but are able to maybe appreciate a good story…this may work, as well.

Here’s the summary of creating your creative space according to the above article:

  1. Schedule it.
  2. Clear the desk.
  3. Disconnect.
  4. Pick one task.
  5. Simple tools.

As part of the first item I personal insert “Read the Bible”. Every day, in solitude, and early. Prayer and the Bible are first on my list if at all possible. I can’t describe the difference it makes in my day. It just does.

All I do is for Christ. That’s not great business talk but it’s the truth. And I’m more creative, more focused, and deliver better product when I give Him the start to my day.
